Ko Tikapa te moana
Our Tupuna Hako journeyed to Aotearoa by a Tohora (Baleen Whale), named T\u016bnui-\u0101-Rangi arriving into Tikapa Moana.
Ko Te Aroha ki uta, ko Moehau ki tai
Ko Pukemokemoke kei waenganui
Our t\u016bpuna maunga which references our being in Hauraki Whenua as well as where we sit between these maunga.
Ko Waihou te awa
Waihou is the river. It was once our water source and means of transport around Hauraki and up through the Waikato.
Ko Waitoki te whenua
Waitoki is the land, the rohe where our people reside within Hauraki.
Ko Paeahi te marae
Paeahi is our tupuna whare and reference point to where in Waitoki our marae is situated.
Ko Ngati Hako te Iwi
Ngati Hako is the tribe we belong to. Hako is our tupuna, our first ancestor to establish himself in Aotearoa the bones or beginning of our people in this new land. Paeahi is a direct descendent of Hako.
Ko Ngati Paeahi te hap\u016b
Ko Hirawani te Tangata
Ngati Paeahi is the hap\u016b and Hirawani is the Tangata, the progenitor of Ngati Paeahi. Hirawani is also a direct descendant of our tupuna Paeahi. We of Ngati Paeahi are the direct descendants of Hirawani and his wife Ngahuka.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
